QR code for a table tent

Table tents sit in front of every guest for the whole meal, which makes them the best spot in a restaurant, cafe or bar for a QR code. They also tend to get printed in bulk and used for a long time, so the link behind the code needs to outlast the menu, the promotion and the season.

One table tent can do different jobs at different times when it carries a dynamic code: the menu at dinner, the happy hour specials from 4 to 6, a review request in the slow season. Changing the destination takes seconds and costs nothing.

If you want guests on Wi-Fi as well, put a separate static Wi-Fi code on the other side of the tent. The two codes do different jobs and should not be combined.

Print tips

  • Print the code 3 to 4 cm wide. Guests scan from their seat, not with the phone pressed to the card.
  • Use matte card stock. Glossy tents under pendant lights reflect straight into the camera.
  • Number your tents and give each section its own code if you want to see where scans happen.

Static code. Free, unlimited, never expires. The content is baked into the pattern.

Going to print? A dynamic code lets you count scans and change the link later without reprinting.

QR codes for table tents: questions

Can I put two QR codes on one table tent?

Yes. Use one side per code and label each clearly, for example menu on the front and Wi-Fi on the back.

How often should I replace table tents?

Only when they get worn. With a dynamic code, menu and promotion changes do not need new tents.

Can I schedule the link to change by time of day?

Not automatically yet. You can change the destination yourself in a few seconds from your phone.
